3rd Annual Game of S.K.A.T.E. Results!

1st place team 16+ Kenan Brittlebank and Brian Ross

2nd place team 16+ Jack Moran and Jonny Scianneaux
This past Saturday Catalyst held it’s 3rd annual Tag Team Game of S.K.A.T.E., and as usual car-fulls of skate rats showed up to partake in the flatground festivities. Coming as far away as Miami, kids showed up to compete for the $500, and all the local 15- crowd showed up to try and get their hands on the 2 completes up for grabs.
Every year the 15- crowd seems to have more and more flip tricks that I couldn’t even fathom when I was their age, so big ups to the 15- guys who brought their A game. In the end it was Oviedo Skatepark loc-dog Sam Bell and his partner that came through with the 1st place win and their choice of crisp new setups from the shop.
16+ always is a sight to see, and this year was no different. Big FL names such as Cody Lucas, Josh Staab, Bert Wootton, Aaron Collier, and more came to compete. Last year’s winner Aaron Collier and partner David Kahn proceeded to take out group after group getting them to the semi-finals. Upset of the day, and come back team of the year, Steven Kahn and Zack Gustafson, took out one of the most serious teams of the day, Bert Wootton and Cody Lucas in the very first round. Zack and Steve had T, and Bert and Cody with S, Zack brought the team all the way back with some serious switch and nollie tricks. The semi finals came down to Aaron and David against Jack Moran and Jonny Scianneaux to go against Brian Ross and Kenan Brittlebank for the final match. All bets were on Aaron and David for the win, but Jonny and Jack came through with the longest and easily the most epic match of the day. Jonny did not mess up on a single trick, and Aaron came through right after every single time landing the trick. Full cab flips, back 360s, you name it. Jack came through with his different bag of tricks to take out the opposing team with tricks like back heel, fakie front bigspin, 360popshuv, etc. In the final match between Jack, Jonny, Kenan, and Brian- Jack won the rock-paper-scissors, proceeded to mess up on the first trick. Brian and Kenan went on to skunk Jack and Jonny “SKATE-nothing.” That threw the whole crowd off, but both teams were psyched on coming through with a little cash. Congrats to all teams on killing it!
After the flatground sessions ended, Tim Payne @ Team Pain brought out a nice piece of Skate-Art, and Catalyst forked up $50 for a best trick. In 30 minutes everyone got a little piece of the action, but Catalyst rider Jonny Scianneaux came through snagging the $50. Check the video of the best trick RYCHYEA!
Thanks to Tim @ Team Pain, thanks to RIPNDIP for throwing some product to all the kids, and an especially big thanks to everyone who came out to compete! Nothing more fun than some good games of S.K.A.T.E. ‘Till next year!
