Lien to tail and some big melons
When I first met Poptart he was this little pipsqueak of a skate rat doing nothing but blunt to fakies, and he had to grab his nose to come in. Somehow within the past year his voice got deeper, he grew about a foot, and every time I see him skate I say to myself, “shit this kid is ripping now!” Here is a good little chunk of footage from Tim Payne’s backyard ramp that I helped remodel this summer. We filmed this in a couple hours of ol’ Poptart casually killing it with an appearance from Mr. RnD. Enjoy.
Game of S.K.A.T.E. Results!
The Tag Team game of S.K.A.T.E. went off bigger than ever this year with the help of Gatorade and Catalyst. Teams from Tampa, Miami, Ft. Laud, Jupiter, and of course Orlando came out to try and come up on some flatground cash. Some of the best looking teams included Kenan Brittlebank and Brian Ross, Joey Ragali and Chase Cerbone, Cody Lucas and Manny Benitez, Bert Wootton and Ryan O’Connor, PJ Castellano and Robbie Kirkland, among a slew of other flatground technicians. As always there were some serious upsets, and serious teams that got knocked out by unsuspecting small-name guys. That’s how it goes, and that is what makes the Tag Team so much fun. Catalyst Riders Jack Moran and Jonny Scianneaux came in 2nd once again, losing to USS ex-veterans/Orlando OG’s Mike Rosa and AJ Burnett.
We want to thank Midtown for coordinating the event and keeping the kids in line, Double D (for his amazing talent of announcing/ calling it clean…), our sponsors GATORADE/ VANS/ VOLCOM/ ORGANIKA and especially all the real skaters that showed up in support of this event!!
UPDATE!
Here is a video of the contest with a good look at some of the dudes who ripped the game of s.k.a.t.e. but couldn’t pull it off, as well as the finals from AJ/Rosa against Jonny/Jack. Big thanks to TJ Gaskill and Jay Meyer for filming.
Hurricane Igor Hype Machine
Hurricane Igor is currently a category 4 storm with sustained winds of 150 mph and is pushing some pretty substantial swell in our direction.
After a quick scan of the current forecasts, here’s what we can expect:
Thursday: Long period swell from Igor showing in the morning, but really picking up in the afternoon in the head high plus range. Unfortunately, this will be the most windy day with E winds at 10-15+ mph.
Friday, Saturday, Sunday: Right now, all three days are looking to be in the head high plus range with E to ENE winds in the 10+ mph range. Winds should be light early so be on it!
Monday: Swell starts backing down and winds pick back up into the 10-15+ mph range from the ENE.
